I’ve been into watches for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was fascinated by them, and by my teens I’d already started building a small collection. The problem? Well, fast-forward to a few years ago, when all of that changed. I started taking the craft of watch collecting seriously — diving into online watch communities, filling my feeds with watch content, and falling into more than a few late-night YouTube rabbit holes that lasted way too long. That’s when I decided to reset. I sold off most of my collection and kept only a small handful — the watches I’d intentionally added over the past few years. I moved from simply collecting watches to curating a collection. The difference? Becoming an informed buyer.
Today, my lineup is intentionally attainable. Most of the watches I own fall firmly into the “budget buy” category (including my favorite affordable dive watch) — generally topping out at a couple hundred bucks.
I’ve also dipped my toe into entry-level luxury with brands like Tissot and have naturally explored great watch storage solutions.
Truth be told, I’m slowly working toward breaking into the true luxury space. (If you’re curious, I’ve got my eye on the Omega Seamaster.) But we’ve got time to get there.

A budget-friendly dive watch

I slide this one in nearly every roundup that I can, simply because I love it so much. With more than 10,000 5-star reviews, it’s no surprise this watch is a total no-brainer. Whether you’re just getting into watch collecting or already deep in the hobby, the Casio dive watch is an affordable piece of wrist candy that’s as functional as it is stylish. A family heirloom that makes for a handsome dinner watch (that’s also a dead ringer for a mega-luxury option)

While my exact version of this watch is a vintage hand-me-down and no longer available, this model is about as close as it gets. Consider this Seiko essential an affordable alternative to the (far more expensive) Cartier Tank — without sacrificing timeless appeal. Tissot’s chronograph watch that I wear every day
Meet the watch I’ve been wearing (practically) every day for the past few years: the Tissot PR516 chronograph. And yes — I love it. The 40-millimeter case has a satisfying weight to it and strikes a great balance between sporty and refined. The dial is clean and sophisticated, while the chronograph detailing features a metallic sunray effect that is absolutely stunning it catches the light.
Inspired by 1970s-era sports watches, this stainless steel timepiece comes on a polished silver-tone bracelet that’s comfortable and — more importantly — doesn’t snag arm hair. It’s water-resistant up to 100 meters and finished with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Add in Super-LumiNova for low-light visibility, and you’ve got a chronograph that looks just as good dressed up as it does handling everyday wear.

Retro-inspired with a modern build, the Tissot PRX digital blends the iconic PRX design with the novelty of a digital display for a fresh, unexpected twist. It carries over the same integrated bracelet and case design that made the PRX a hit — just reimagined in a distinctly old-school digital format.
The watch is available in both 40 and 35 millimeters (I went with the smaller size to really lean into the vintage feel). For colorways, I opted for the classic silver bracelet with a black dial, but there’s also a bold gold-on-gold option that makes a serious statement.

A classic Tissot that I wore when I said “I do”

I love this retro-inspired timepiece so much that it was the watch I wore on my wedding day (read my full review on it here). It boasts Swiss quartz movement and a 316L stainless steel case, offering both style and durability. The PRX pays homage to Tissot’s iconic line of men’s watches from the 1970s, echoing the signature tonneau (barrel-shaped) case design from 1978.
It wears very comfortably thanks, in part, to the 12-millimeter, retro-style stainless steel bracelet with a hidden butterfly clasp. It’s available in 35, 38 ( new!), and 40 millimeters in diameter. And if you want to change up the look, the interchangeable quick-release system makes it easy to swap in a leather or silicone strap — depending on whether you’re going for a dressy or sporty vibe.
If you’re looking for a little variety in your life, the rose gold/navy PRX Powermatic 80 (pictured above) takes things to the next level with automatic mechanics and a textured watch face for added appeal.
