JD Vance’s Message To ‘Frustrated’ Voters Is An Attack Ad Of His Own Making, Critics Say

Vice President JD Vance tried to put a spin on high prices under the Trump administration on Monday with a message to voters just six weeks before Election Day.

“I say the message is two very simple things. First of all, don’t give power to the crazy people who started these problems in the first place,” Vance said in an interview with Newsmax’s Greg Kelly.

“If you’re frustrated about high prices, you have every reason to be frustrated by high prices,” he added.

The veep’s comments add to an over 20-month finger-pointing exercise by the Trump administration, with officials blaming the former occupants of the Oval Office for the country’s current economic woes.

But with President Donald Trump among those former occupants, recent polling shows that Americans aren’t sold on the blame game. Meanwhile, data shows that inflation — fueled by the president’s unpopular war of choice in Iran — has erased wage gains.

Gas prices, too, are $1.29 a gallon higher than a year ago, while diesel prices hit another record high on Tuesday, per AAA data.

Critics on social media latched onto Vance’s line about voters “frustrated” with high prices, arguing that Vance was referring to his own “deranged” administration.

“That’s the only message to gain from this statement. Sheer projection here,” one person wrote.

Another user, @lisa_liberal, saw potential for the clip, writing, “This needs to be a Democrat advertisement in 5…4…3…”

And Donna Brazile, former chair of the Democratic National Committee, used the clip to take a swing at the Trump administration.

“The crazy folks started a tariff riff with our allies and a war of choice with no strategy to end it. Guess we’re sick of crazy,” she wrote on X.
