Davante Adams had just excelled in the Los Angeles Rams’ 28-6 win over the New York Giants on Monday, but ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt went way off topic.
He teased to Adams that a “very important” television moment was coming, and then delved into the player’s “wash your hands, wash your butt” pro tip to viewers in January 2020.
Van Pelt bragged that he had lined up some clips of “nonsense” uttered by sports figures for whenever he got bored on his show. He replayed Adams’ soundbite off his tablet, and the two went awkwardly down memory lane.
“I didn’t know I’d be known for that, to be honest,” the veteran receiver said.

Van Pelt, perhaps realizing that he’d gone off-track, assured Adams he’d be known for his performance (eight receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns) against the Giants and for being “one of the greats of your era.”

Adams was a good sport and attempted to give his health advice its historical due.
“If I can be remembered, I’ll be remembered for whatever it is,” he said. “As long as it’s semi-good, I’ll take it.”
