President Donald Trump on Monday bragged about the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., which he claimed was “packed with happy people.”

“Ask yourself this simple question,” the president wrote on Truth Social, then added in all caps: “‘DO YOU THINK THAT OBUMA OR SLEEPY JOE BIDEN COULD HAVE DONE IT?’ THE ANSWER IS NO!”
But the fair wasn’t packed. Footage and photos from the event ― including the live broadcast on Fox News ― showed a smattering of people wandering the grounds at the National Mall, but no “packed” crowds.
And the insults against his predecessors fell flat, especially the “Sleepy” title he used on Joe Biden, given Trump’s own well-documented tendency to nod off in public.
But on Monday, Trump wanted people to “appreciate what a fantastic job we did” in creating the Great American State Fair, which he said “everybody” was loving. Trump’s critics were quick to point out that the event was largely a snoozer ― and mocked his demand for praise:
