You might be familiar with Cécred’s Restoring Hair & Edge Drops, the viral “heaven in a bottle” hair growth serum from Beyoncé’s hair care brand. The drops have many fans, including our own shopping editor Marquaysa Battle, who said they “not only halted hair loss in its tracks but it restored my hairline’s fullness,” which led us to give the serum a HuffPost Shopping Award this year. But if you’re dealing with your own hair loss, you know it’s not just happening on your scalp: Thinning brows and lashes are also part of aging, which makes Cécred’s latest launch so exciting.

That’s right — Cécred launched a Restoring Lash & Brow Builder on Aug. 11 as a sister product to the Restoring Hair & Edge Drops that is… well, focused on lashes and brows. Meant to be used twice daily, the brand claims that you can see 1.4x visibly denser brows and lashes in just 45 days.
The key ingredients include proprietary biopeptide-5 (a blend of five peptides, or short chains of amino acids), bioactive keratin ferment and biotin, all of which also appear in the Restoring Hair & Edge Drops. We previously spoke to a dermatologist about the Restoring Hair & Edge Drops, who told us that the peptides present can anchor the hair follicles for longer growth, inhibit shedding, increase blood flow to the hair to stimulate growth and keep hair in the growth phase for longer. Now they’re doing the same thing in a brow and lash serum, just with different hairs.
The serum also contains something the Restoring Hair & Edge Drops don’t: allantoin, a naturally occurring chemical compound with moisturizing, soothing properties. In this case, it’s there to support the skin barrier around your lashes and brows to help them grow.
There’s also something notably missing from the ingredients list: prostaglandins or prostaglandin analogues, also known as PGAs. Prostaglandins are hormone-like lipids that can stimulate lash growth, but they come with all sorts of potential side effects, like irritation, redness and hyperpigmentation. Prostaglandins and PGAs can be found in popular lash serums like prescription-only Latisse or GrandeLASH-MD, respectively. Without prostaglandins or PGAs, the Cécred serum might have slightly different growth potential, but without the risk of those side effects.
The formula is meant to be non-greasy and fast-absorbing, and the bottle comes with a teensy-tiny brush that you can use to apply it on your brows and lash line. It’s designed to easily layer with makeup and other skin care products — just make sure you let it fully dry first — as well as brow and lash treatments. Just note that if you’ve recently gotten lash extensions, lash lifts, microbladed brows, tinted brows or brow laminations, the brand recommends waiting at least 72 hours before you apply this stuff.

Plus, the serum is fragrance-free. It’s dermatologist-, ocular- and ophthalmologist-tested to be safe on your skin and eyes as well.
With the product just having launched, we’re still waiting for reviews to pour in. And yes, $48 is on the pricier side, but given that this has the same superstar ingredients as the hair serum we know is a winner, we’re pretty optimistic about the Restoring Lash & Brow Builder.
