‘Color Me Impressed’: Joybird’s Furniture Is Worth Every Penny — And It’s Up To 45% Off For Labor Day

Ordering furniture online can be a scary gamble and the stakes are way too high to play around. Like, who wants to end up figuring out how to return a package the size of a baby dinosaur? That said, I’m a shopping and deals expert with NEWS for you: If you’ve been eyeing Joybird’s gorgeous furniture online, I’m here to report that the furniture brand’s gorgeous reels aren’t merely AI or any form of hyperbole.

After trying the brand’s Fitz sectional, you’ve got my word that the furniture is beautiful, high-quality, quite comfortable in real life and worth every penny. If you’ve been curious but skeptical, consider this a cue to make your home upgrade soon, especially during its Labor Day sale with high-end pieces up to 45% off through 9/7. 👀

I’m not any ole person singing yet another big brand’s praises. I’m a real deals expert who’s tested thousands of products in real life for at least a decade — including my fair share of sofas, couches and other furniture. My profession has turned me into a slow shopper because, well, not much impresses me anymore.

That said, I can confirm that the sectional I got from Joybird earlier this year is the most comfortable one I’ve ever owned. Color me IMPRESSED.

Finding the right couch wasn’t just about aesthetics this time. At 35, I recently got my first home and moved my mother in with me.

Mom deals with sciatica and SI joint pain that tells her very immediately when a chair is no good.

The pink mid-century modern sectional I got from Wayfair in my 20s didn’t make the cut. So, I set out to find one that would agree with her physical needs. Boy, did I find it, and it’s benefited us both!

This Fitz modular sectional is everything we needed in a couch and everything I didn’t know we needed.

Fitz Sectional: $3221 at Joybird (regularly $4956)Shop The Up To 45% Off Joybird Sale

No matter how old you get, sometimes you still gotta listen to your mom. We visited the Joybird store near us, and I let her pick the couch since her sciatica would know the right fit better than me. After sitting on every single couch in the DC location, it was settled: The Fitz modular reclining sectional, in Peacock Blue, would come home to us.

The material is ultra-soft, yet stain- and water-resistant. The cushioning (made of high-density polyurethane foam and fiber layers) provides the right blend of firmness and plushness. All the seats except the sectional back recline with a power button when you plug the couch in. There are even specific buttons to adjust the neck portion to your needs, which is a godsend for my tech neck. This couch is a gem and it’s got nothing to do with “luxury” per se. It’s truly enhanced our day-to-day sitting experiences.

Over the past few months, we’ve regularly eaten dinner, reclined and watched movies on it. And yes, I’ve fallen asleep on it too many times to count.

Most importantly? Not once has this couch sectional exacerbated Mom’s sciatica pain. It’s even been a true godsend during her recovery from a recent unexpected surgery.

My mom mostly avoided sitting in the living room at all costs when my Wayfair couch was in there, which meant she spent a lot of time in her room or at the kitchen table. Now, she’s always in there with her feet kicked up and her electric blanket on high. The couch even came in handy recently when Mom underwent emergency surgery. A major plus. She’s found great comfort in being able to recline on it, instead of being bedridden during recovery.

And then it has the nerve to be STYLISH? What’s the opposite of buyer’s remorse? Owner’s pride? Owner’s conviction? Well, I feel that with this couch 100% as I embark on my multi-generational living journey.

So, if you’re like me, and spent a lot of time being totally against ordering furniture online, have no fear. I just did the in-person work for you. You can press go on Joybird with full confidence that you’ll get a top-tier furniture piece.

Since buying furniture is such a gamble, Joybird also surprisingly has a “Decide Later” option that really comes in handy.

Fitz Sectional: $3221 at Joybird (regularly $4956)Shop The Up To 45% Off Joybird Sale

You can reserve your piece to lock in your discount while you take time to decide on your customizations. They’ll send you a free swatch kit so you can see the upholstery options in person. Then, you get 90 days to make your color, fabric and sectional orientation choices.

I did get the swatch kit and visita store for good measure, as it was my first time. Still, if you’re not near one, this is still a great way to give yourself the grace to make your picks with the same level of careful consideration.

Just look at how accurate the swatch is against my sectional in her final form?

I don’t mess around when it comes to investigating before I order something online, but you still don’t have to solely take my word for it.

Several reviewers (including folks who got my exact sectional) swear by their Joybird finds, too. Peep the reviews below and snag your furniture upgrade while the Labor Day Sale is still on.

Promising Reviews:

“This is an amazing couch. Comfortable and can fit our entire family comfortably.” — Gottshalls, Fitz Couch

“We love our Joybird reclining couch. It is extremely comfortable and flexible. Perfect for our small space and fabulous in our larger space.” — Letty, Fitz Couch

“The look and quality of this far exceeded my expectations! Comfortable seating. And is big enough to sleep on Purchased two and could not be happier.” — Tracey, Briar sleeper sofa

“I absolutely love my new couch! The fabric is silky soft and the seat cushions are comfortably firm/supportive while the back rest cushions are fluffy and soft. I configured mine into one side being longer than the other, with the small ottoman on the long end and it makes it so someone can lay in the middle and then two others can lay on each side. One thing I will say, there was a two person team delivering my set and they just put the cushions on and arranged it but didn’t install the connector brackets, so I’ll still need to do that myself.” — Velma, Holt sectional

“I love this chair so much. It’s so comfy, I immediately fall asleep when I sit on it. The color is amazing! Everyone loves it!” — Tracy, Amelia grand chair

“This sleep sofa is the best one I’ve ever slept on. It is extremely comfortable.” — Chaley, Briar sleeper sofa

Wayfair is well-known for its deeply discounted, simple furniture and home goods. You’re always guaranteed to find something on your to-buy list at Wayfair. While they have pieces from all sorts of styles, they have a surprisingly robust selection of sleek, modern pieces with strong silhouettes and tapered legs, like this beautiful TV stand from one of its in-house brands, Latitude Run.

Important note on this one: This is probably the BEST deal we’ve seen on Wayfair at all and it’s a limited-time lightning deal. The brand has it labeled as being just 22% off, but it’s actually almost $100 cheaper than when we covered it on sale in February for Presidents Day.

My super lovely entryway shoe cabinet (10% off w/ coupon)

I don’t typically sneeze at anything below 15% off, but for furniture items, I make an exception. This entryway shoe cabinet was literally exactly what I was looking for. I needed it to be really slim and not jut out, so my door could open freely. Despite the slimness, I still needed it to hold A LOT of shoes. This does that and I’m so in love. It’s also pretty dang sturdy.

As the first reviewer on the Amazon page, I took a gamble on this one because I couldn’t find anything else that fit the size requirements. It turned out quite alright, and now we don’t trip over shoes when we enter the house. One heads up: I can’t really speak to assembly, because my brother put it together for me. That said, several folks have mixed reviews on that, with some saying they hated it and others feeling like it’s not that bad. I say get a partner and go for it.

Burrow

An upholstered Burrow accent chair (35% off)

The first couch I ever purchased for myself was from Burrow, largely in part, because of the brand’s quality. This lovely Rye recliner is well-made, liveable and at a fairly reasonable price point, especially now that the brand has an up to 40% off sitewide sale.

Note: This deal is better than when it was on sale for Presidents Day. I’d grab it nowif you want it. We usually don’t see brands do much better than 35%-45% off when Black Friday rolls around.

Promising review: “I’ve been looking for 2 recliners for our tv room. I do most of my shopping online since we live in a small town in No Cal. I spotted these recliners months ago on Burrows website and loved the color and design. Once I ordered the chairs came quickly which is unheard of with most furniture you order online. They were boxed extremely well with easy to follow assembly. The first one went together quickly and easily. However the second one was difficult to get it to “click” into place. We are still trying to rectify the situation. My other issue is even tho they were wrapped well there are some indentations in the fabric…hopefully these will come out with time. Overall I think they are well made with quality fabric but I’m hoping we can get our chair assembled properly.” — Marni

It’s low profile, extremely sturdy, and has 2 XL cup holder baskets that can convert to hold drinks, a portable speaker, phones, dog treats, and whatever else you want to keep with you.
