The MacBook Neo is the brand’s latest MacBook release, and it starts at a modest $599. It’s a small computer with a ton of personality, but don’t let its looks deceive you: reviewers are “blown away” by how well it stacks up to pricier models, while one user in particular, who says they’re a first-time Mac user, calls it a “massive upgrade” over their Lenovo. You can nab one in citrus, blush, silver or indigo with 256 GB for $589 at Amazon, or with 512 GB for $689.99. That’s an over $300 from Amazon’s most popular Macbook Air!

Strapped with an A18 Pro chip, the MacBook Neo is a speedy budget laptop comparable to a Chromebook.
Apple has entered the budget game with the MacBook Neo. This slim, 13-inch laptop bursts with color, but also plenty of power.
That’s up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge; 8 GB of RAM; a 2408 x 1506 resolution on a liquid display screen; a 1080p webcam for FaceTime; and powerful speakers that support spatial audio.
These specs are similar to a Chromebook, which also means the MacBook Neo is best for productivity tasks and light work, rather than editing large files and videos. Translation: If you do normal stuff on a laptop, this one is more than enough.
“It’s actually faster than my old Air and I’ve had no problems at all using it for everything I always use my laptops for,” user Kate vouched.

One user says that “it’s easy to add [the] iCloud” and calls it “seriously simple and intuitive, especially if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem.”

“I’ve had my Neo about a week now and I love it. I was hesitant because it uses an iPhone chip instead of an M chip like other MacBooks. But my 2020 MacBook Air M1 started having display screen issues (vertical and horizontal lines, flickering) so I needed to get something before it failed completely. I didn’t want to spend $1,100+ for a new Air, so I researched the Neo. It’s actually faster than my old Air and I’ve had no problems at all using it for everything I always use my laptops for, which is mostly writing books, email, web browsing, Zoom meetings, and video streaming. I haven’t had any performance problems with a dozen or more tabs open at the sand time. I got the 8Gb, which is plenty even for the thousands of documents and photos I have saved. I have entire book drafts of 200+ pages saved, a doctoral dissertation, and hundreds of research articles saved for my dissertation. It’s more than adequate for my needs. It’s very light weight. The citrus color is pretty. The keyboard is very responsive and feels even better than the Air. The battery doesn’t last as long as the Air before needing recharged but it’s still long lasting.
