MS NOW host Chris Hayes got frank about President Donald Trump’s desire to tear down the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

On Thursday’s episode of “All In,” Hayes pointed to viral photos of Trump aboard Air Force One the night before, facing a gigantic poster board that included the words, “Kennedy Center” and “DEMOLISH.”
That was enough for many — including Hayes — to leap to the same assumption.
“What Donald Trump wants, apparently more than almost anything, is to basically steal a memorial to our assassinated president, which, when you stop and think about it for like five seconds, is pretty twisted, even for Trump,” Hayes said. “It’s become a sick pathological fixation.”
A few moments later, Hayes hammered home his point by channeling what he thinks is the president’s true motive behind the move — and he did it with just one simple sentence.
“Make it mine, or it will end up getting ripped down,” Hayes said of Trump.
A “sick pathological fixation” could be considered by many Trump critics as a pretty solid description of the president’s multiple attempts to co-opt part of the late President John F. Kennedy’s legacy.
The center, named after the 35th president just two months after his November 1963 assassination, was authorized by Congress to serve as a “living memorial.” In December, however, the center’s board — which is stacked with Trump loyalists — voted to rename the building “The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts” and slapped his name on its exterior.

A judge in May ruled that a decision by the center’s board to add his name to its official title was unlawful, leading to his name’s removal from the building’s exterior in June.
Since then, Trump has decided to test out a new tactic, claiming the center “is a mess,” “in very dangerous shape” and could be “ripped down.” Therefore, his administration needs to “to save” it, and for their efforts, Trump’s name should be prominently displayed on the building out of “respect and dignity of acknowledgement.”
The Kennedy Center board also voted to “temporarily” close the venerated performance arts venue, and it was shuttered Wednesday, per The Associated Press.
On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered the Trump administration to give 30 days’ notice before making any major structural changes to the building — including demolition.
