CNN fact-checker reporter Daniel Dale quickly found a problem with the White House’s pitch that its official app is now the place to “get real-time updates” with “no noise” about Donald Trump’s administration.

The White House hyped the app on Monday amid the suspension of pool coverage by the five television networks that make up the White House press pool, in response to Trump’s ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
Dale, though, found that some of its supposedly up-to-date information was months old.
In a section touting Trump’s alleged “accomplishments,” Dale noted how figures highlighting gas prices, inflation and GDP growth all relied on old data.
The gas-price figure, Dale spotted, was “from seven months ago, before the Iran war (they’re now more than $1.50 per gallon higher — $4.48, per AAA).”

“The inflation rate from seven months ago, before the Iran war (the most recent rate, for August, was a full percentage point higher, 3.4%),” he said.
And the app cited “GDP growth from three quarters ago (the most recent available quarter, Q2 2026, was nearly three points lower, 1.5%),” he added.
Dale dryly concluded: “In summary, it may possibly be helpful to consume news from news outlets.”
