According to Entertainment Weekly, reporter Sheila O’Connor had finished her story about a Memphis to Peoria charity run when the camera caught Dillon with her eyes closed and chin cradled in her hands. O’Connor, on a split screen, stood by in silence.

Anchor Ernie Freeman later poked fun at Dillon, posting a photo of his colleague in a pretend sleep pose. “Now that ‘The Big Show’ is over, it’s time for Dominique Dillon to catch another nap,” he wrote with the hashtag #StayWoke.
“Couldn’t even give me a nudge,” Dillon joked in a reply.
Some observers weren’t losing sleep either over her apparent on-air snooze .
Several commenters noted she recently had a second child and should be given some “grace.” Savannah, Ga., anchor, Corey Howard wrote that he too had been visited by the sandman but the shuteye didn’t make it to air.

Another viewer said someone in the studio should have awakened her somehow. At least one respondent wrote she would “reserve judgment” given Dillon’s potentially difficult schedule as the host of an every-weekday show.
Dillon later waxed philosophical on Facebook by quoting Arnold Schwarzenegger: “Every morning, you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.”
