Multiple people affiliated with President Donald Trump’s favorite news outlet, Fox News, voiced their outrage at his decision to ban CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House on Friday.

“Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”
When asked during Friday’s press gaggle in the Oval Office what news outlets he may ban next, he launched into a tirade against The New York Times and The Washington Post.
“I mean, they’re disgusting,” Trump said. “I don’t get it. Why would they be, you know, we’re doing so well, and they’ll take the most positive story and make it as negative as possible.”
Fox News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich quickly condemned the move by Trump in a statement released via the White House Correspondents’ Association.
“The president said it plainly in the Oval Office, describing his own planned action as a ‘ban on the free press,’” Heinrich wrote. “The Constitution protects the freedom of the press from government interference. That protection does not depend on whether the president likes a news organization’s coverage, agrees with its reporting, or approves of the questions its journalists ask.”

Heinrich was far from the only personality from the network to speak out about Trump’s decision.
“I agree with POTUS that several media outlets covering the WH are biased and unfair. Banning them from the WH is not the solution,” Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer wrote on X. “Open the pool and the briefing room to conservatives. Challenge liberal reporters. Argue and defeat them.”
John Roberts, who co-hosts Fox News’ “America Reports,” said he doesn’t believe the move to ban the outlets will last.

“Obama tried to exclude Fox from certain White House access back in 2009. Lasted about half a heartbeat. I expect this one will too,” Roberts wrote on X.
Numerous other contributors and analysts for the network spoke out about the move, including Jonathan Turley, Brit Hume and Guy Benson.
“If he thinks this will lead to more favorable coverage, I think he’s dreaming,” Hume wrote on X.

The WH media ban, even if you hate the targeted outlets, is a bad idea & bad precedent. It’s the sort of thing he does when he doesn’t feel like things are going well politically. Beyond his hardcore loyalist base, it achieves nothing and is exhausting.

Trump just reaffirmed his intention to ban CNN, Politico, and MS NOW from the White House. Such a move would be an assault on long-honored principles of a free press. I have often joined in the criticism over the bias of these outlets, but barring disfavored media from the White…
