Their pieces are size-inclusive (most dresses go from an XXS up to an XXL or a numerical size 18-20) and rendered in natural fabrics like cotton and linen (huge for those of us who dread the humidity that comes with sundress season).
Like much of what’s in stock at Gap proper, which is also having a moment right now, I find my Gap Factory dresses to hit right at the sweet spot of on-trend without being trendy, and I’ve been asked not once but twice this week if a particular blue number with a gathered neckline and gently-puffed sleeves was a Dôen splurge.

I’m thrilled that gingham seems to be the pattern of summer 2026, and I’m even more thrilled that this crisp cotton maxi dress, which has a bit of a ‘grown-up American Girl doll’ vibe, comes in both blue and red versions, plus a solid red that, let’s be honest, I’ll probably also order. I’m 5-foot-2 and it hits right at the ankle, and the slight boatneck is bra-strap friendly.
A throw-on-and-go poplin shirtdress
This dress is basically begging for a farmers market stroll, iced latte in hand, and at least three “Wait, where did you get that?” compliments before noon. The flutter sleeves and easy tie waist make it feel pulled together, and the poplin fabric will stay cool no matter how many steps you do.

A 100-percent cotton maxi dress in a vintage-inspired print
As of this moment I don’t have any big summer vacation plans, but this polka-dot dress (it also comes in a neutral khaki shade and a blue-and-white stripe) is kind of making me want to change that! The all-cotton fabric content will keep you cool on even the warmest days, and I think the addition of a shawl or cardigan could easily take this one from day to night — perhaps a waterfront dinner reservation is in order?

Is it possible I manifested this dress into existence? From the scooped neckline that can be cinched tighter for more coverage to the straps, which are thick enough to cover bra straps, the construction is flawless, and the blue plaid pattern is visually interesting without being overwhelming. This is another one that comes in both tall and petite sizes, and it also comes in olive green and blue-and-white stripes.
A feminine, romantic dress that looks way more expensive than it is
In the last two weeks I’ve worn this short-sleeved cotton maxi dress to: a matinee showing of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” dinner at a restaurant housed in a Revolutionary War-era hotel, and to a launch party for a niche fragrance brand. I’ve gotten compliments at each outing, and multiple people have mistaken it for a dress by an Instagram-beloved brand that costs three times as much. Color options include a French blue, a yellow version in a ditsy-floral print, and a dark blue plaid, and one reviewer notes that it’s maternity and nursing-friendly.
A ribbed dress with distinct disco vibes
This dress has a ’70s feel courtesy of the keyhole-style neckline and the way the fabric blend — 58% cotton, 39% polyester, and 3% spandex — gently hugs without being skintight. In red, black, or brown, it’s the kind of dress you could style a dozen different ways, and would be a great vacation option.

I have to be honest — I wasn’t necessarily expecting to find something with so much sex appeal at a retailer I mostly turn to for daytime looks, but here we are! This just-below-knee-length dress, in a breathable blend of 55 percent linen and 45 percent cotton, comes in a va-va-voom red polka dot print, which I’d be happy to wear either to a cocktail party or out on the town. It also comes in both Tall (S-XL) and Petite (XS-S) sizes!
A sweater dress perfect for running around in
This short-sleeve sweater dress has a French feel, with the Breton-inspired stripes and the loose, easygoing fit. Gap Factory does cotton knit that can’t be beat, especially at this price point, and this would be my pick for doing errands (sneakers and fun socks, anyone) or to throw in a beach bag as an early-evening coverup.
