Witt appeared visibly close to tears after airing a lengthy montage highlighting just some of the major events she has covered over 27 years — from the 9/11 terror attacks and the coronavirus pandemic to royal weddings and Apple’s launch of the first iPhone.

“Wow!” Witt, 65, said after the supercut concluded.

“I knew it would be hard to get to this,” she admitted, fighting back tears as she paid tribute to her crew and, in particular, her executive producer Nick Kovijanic, whom she hailed as “a champion,” an inspiration and “my rudder through all of this.”

As members of Witt’s crew walked onto the set, she noted that “it takes a village” to produce the show.

“And my village is here,” she said, before thanking her “wonderful colleagues.”

Witt then turned to the viewers, saying: “It has been such a privilege to earn your trust delivering the news. I’m grateful for your loyalty, keeping me right here in this anchor chair all these years doing this job that I love. Thank you.”

Finally, Witt had an emotional message for her children.

“And lastly, I’m a mom, so to my son and daughter, thank you for embracing and understanding the many ways my weekend hours impacted you,” she said. “I’m forever proud of you two, and love you till the end of time.”

In a post on X, MS NOW’s public relations team said Witt “has decided to sign off, concluding an extraordinary chapter.”

“She’s anchored more hours than anyone in the network’s history, guiding viewers through some of the most consequential moments,” it said, linking to a Variety story that said she will “fill in on various daytime hours through the rest of the year.”
