Mike Johnson’s Victory Lap On X Gets Awkward Fast

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) was hit with a Community Note on X after boasting about the productivity of the current 119th Congress, in which Republicans control both the House and Senate.

Johnson shared a video on the Elon Musk-owned platform hyping recently passed legislation and boasted in the caption that House Republicans “passed over 70 bills this week alone,” adding, he said, “to our total of over 900 bills passed through the House so far this Congress.”

Johnson listed seven ways in which he claimed Republicans have “DELIVERED for Americans,” including “enacting the largest middle and working class tax cut in US history” and “closing the border.”

“By contrast, the Democrat agenda is very simple: grievance politics, bigger government, higher taxes, open borders, and zero security,” he concluded his pitch to voters ahead of the 2026 midterms.

But the Community Note offered a very different assessment of the 119th Congress’ productivity:

“The 119th congress was the least productive in history, no congress has enacted less legislation or laws. Johnson has cancelled a total 63 scheduled voting days in the house, granting members an extra 2 months PTO, with no house votes scheduled until after the election.”

The note pointed to multiple sources to support its claims.

Johnson, who on Wednesday sent the House into an early recess until after the November midterm elections, also claimed at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas last week that the 119th Congress was “the most productive Congress in 80 years.”
