Trump topped his appearance at the Texas-Tennessee college football game in Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday by attending the last day of the team golf tournament at Medinah Country Club in the Chicago area.
Trump, the honorary chair of the event, waxed enthusiastic about what he saw. But his detractors dinged him for going way of bounds on his perspective of it.
“Some of you aren’t into the world of golf, but you witnessed a a very historic event today,” he said on the tarmac. “It was actually, in terms of sport, and in terms of golf, and in terms of our country, it was a great win.”
The online gallery was not impressed.
“How is it a great win for our country,” one person wrote on X.
“Yes, because golf is so important to everyone who’s paying out the ass for food and fuel,” another penned.

Trump is also an avid golfer, but the optics of his frequent play get questioned because his party is in danger of losing both the House and Senate amid a war that he started and can’t seem to end. The fallout has been high prices, reportedly depleted munitions and plummeting popularity numbers.
He has golfed 137 out of the first 617 days in his second term, costing taxpayers $191.8 million, according to a website that tracks such things.
But on Sunday he clubbed spectators with bombast.
“I said, ‘No, I don’t have the courage to make a speech.’” he told fans at the Presidents Cup. “These people want to see golf, they don’t want to hear speeches. I’ll only say this; our country is doing great ― better than ever before.”

A “golf event” doesn’t put gas in our vehicles or put food on the table
