Trump Makes Eye-Opening Declaration About When He Wants World Cup Back In U.S.

President Donald Trump said he’ll “immediately” request that the United States host the World Cup again ― and that he wants the global soccer tournament back here “while I’m around.”

Whether that means while he’s still in office ― an impossibility given constitutional term limits ― or merely being alive, the next possibility could be 2038, USA Today reported. Trump would turn 92 during the spectacle.

Trump threw in a not-fully comprehensible explanation of how he instructed pal and FIFA President Gianni Infantino to re-introduce the U.S., which cohosted with Mexico and Canada this time.

Trump admitted he had reservations about the U.S. hosting for 2026 but was pleased with its popularity.

Fox Sports’ Jenny Taft asked him in an interview before Spain’s 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final when he’d “like to see the FIFA World Cup back in America.”

“I had a great idea for Gianni,” Trump replied. “I said, ‘You have to do two countries.’ So announce us again next time, and announce another country after that; that’ll take out some of the anger and the shock. Now I think it’s a great idea. But based on the numbers, we will be requesting it again immediately. But I said to take out the shock; you could announce us, and maybe then, for the next one, another, and even another. But we have to do this again, and we have to do it while I’m around. You hear that, Gianni?”

The 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, and the 2034 World Cup will return to a single host, Saudi Arabia.

Not surprisingly, Trump and his administration made their presence known during the 2026 World Cup, from essentially forcing Iran to establish its team base in Tijuana, barring a Somali referee and Trump overstaying his welcome during Spain’s victory ceremony, according to reports.
