Trump Official Bluntly Tells Americans To Change Their Diet If Beef Prices Are Too High

Social media users called out Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins as “ridiculously out of touch” after she made an eyebrow-raising remark about the high beef prices in America on Monday’s episode of “The Benny Show.”

The Trump administration official made the comment after right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson pointed out that “nobody likes these expensive steaks.” Johnson also asked Rollins about a conversation she supposedly had with Donald Trump in which the president expressed that he was “very concerned” about current beef prices.

“It’s like, the gas price, the steak price — no good. What are we doing about that?” Johnson asked.

Rollins countered that prices were slightly down, and then attempted to blame former President Joe Biden and Democrats for the high cost of beef, citing what she called “the leftist agenda to destroy our cattle herds, take them off of our grazing lands, basically say they’re responsible for climate change.”

Eventually, she offered some peculiar advice to those who are struggling with sticker shock.

“We have more people eating beef than ever before,” she claimed. “But if it is too expensive — unlike fuel, Benny — you can eat chicken, pork, salmon, eggs. There are other sources of really good protein, and all of those prices are coming down as well.”

Beef prices have shot to record highs due to drought, a dwindling cattle supply and high farming costs, among other factors, according to Scripps News. Trump’s sweeping tariffs on imports, including beef, and import restrictions amid parasite concerns have also contributed to the steep costs.

Rollins vowed to Johnson that “cheaper beef” is “coming to you soon.”

“Even better beef. America does it better than anywhere in the world,” she said.
