The Republican — in an Aug. 15 clip shared by Media Matters for America on Friday — echoed an earlier caller who declared that “America needs to wake up” on Trump, adding that he’s “kind of floored” by the president’s attitude.

“We have a president in this day and age with no compassion, no empathy whatsoever, and yet we still follow a guy like this,” he said of Trump, whose comments on inflation and Americans’ finances have signaled his disregard toward an issue that he once vowed to patch up on the campaign trail.

The caller, who identified simply as Ed from Utah, went on to stress that the “leadership class is just doing a horrible job, no matter where you look, the left or the right.”

“The economy is horrible. Economy is bad for the small business guy right now,” said Ed, who noted that the “big corporation” of America is “taking on more and more and more” debt in the process.

He added, “It’s like he’s oblivious to the situation most Americans are facing right now.”

Ed then turned his attention to another caller from earlier in the program who said they were “proud” of the America that Trump is building, particularly as it pertained to the White House.

“Man, I want him to start in the cities and work his way there. Forget D.C. at this point. Don’t they have enough money?” he said.

“We should be billionaires. Put the power back in each family. Let’s go back to that. And man, we can have great times.”
