Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to convince President Donald Trump’s MAGA base that they need to turn out and vote in November’s midterm elections.

But her choice of words may have helped motivate the opposition instead.
“Americans need to get out and vote like President Trump is on the ballot,” she said during a Fox News interview on Thursday evening.
Trump made similar comments several times in recent weeks.
“Pretend I’m on the ballot,” Trump said at a rally in North Carolina this week.
But with an unpopular war, rising fuel prices, and a plunging approval rating, even pretending Trump’s name is on the ballot will likely only motivate those looking to vote against his agenda.
While the president’s party often loses seats in Congress during the midterms, polls this year suggest the GOP could be drubbed due in large part to Trump’s historic unpopularity. Democrats are considered the heavy favorites for winning the House, and many now believe they could also flip the Senate ― something considered out of reach only a few months ago.
Leavitt’s critics on social media reached out to let her know they’ll be following her advice and voting “like President Trump is on the ballot.”

Trump’s latest approval ratings are as low as 35%, so voters should take that advice. 👍🏻 https://t.co/lJ1Dny2HcP
