‘Actual Blasphemy’: Critics Stunned By ‘Repulsive’ Video At Trump Convention

President Donald Trump’s Republican midterm convention in Dallas featured a bizarre video that claimed he was chosen by God for a special purpose.

The video, which was also used in 2024, is a modified version of Paul Harvey’s 1978 “So God Made a Farmer” speech, but with a twist: In this one, God makes Trump.

“And on June 14th, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a caretaker,’” the narrator says. “So God gave us Trump.”

“God said, ‘I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, fix this country, work all day, fight the Marxist, eat supper then go to the Oval Office and stay past midnight and a meeting of the heads of state.’ So God made Trump.”

Critics were stunned by the video’s blatant idolatry, especially on a stage where speaker after speaker had attacked Democrats about faith while posturing as defenders of Christianity.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, for example, said Democrats “want to kick God out of our country.”

First Baptist Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress attacked the beliefs of Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico ― a Presbyterian seminarian ― as “blasphemous,” “evil,” and “not beliefs that any true Christian could support ever,” as The Christian Post reported.

Trump himself even had a moment where he asked attendees to raise their right hands and pledge, not to God… but “to the greatest president in the history of the United States,” claiming he “loves us so much he can’t even breathe.”

Then, Trump said they would go to hell if they didn’t vote.

Given all that, critics found a video naming Trump as “caretaker” chosen by God himself, to be not just blasphemous, but the kind of thing you might find in a cult:
