Filling in time during a rain delay against the host Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, Caron told his NESN viewers:
“They found the news this morning, we all did, that Dice-K Matsuzaka had been placed on the IL with a hamstring injury suffered last night.”

Daisuke “Dice-K” Matsuzaka, a pitcher, played his last MLB game in 2014, winning one World Series title during a 2007-12 stint with the Red Sox.
Caron meant the current Red Sox designated hitter, Masataka Yoshida.
He later corrected himself.
“Masataka Yoshida — had that inadvertently before — Masataka Yoshida, as expected, placed on the 10-day IL,” Caron said.

The Red Sox eventually lost the game, 8-3.
