Trey Yingst, the network’s chief foreign correspondent, told “Fox & Friends” viewers he had just spoken with the president, who said he was in “deciding mode” and “very big things are going to be happening in the not-so-distant future.”
Trump reportedly laid out several paths he could take, saying he was choosing between “wiping Iran out, letting them rot economically or making a deal.”

Making escalation sound like an inevitable, Yingst said that Trump added, “My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up? They better behave.”

The president’s cataclysmic threat may not be a definite, as he is reportedly set to meet with a set of six Persian Gulf leaders while they are in the U.S. for this week’s United Nations General Assembly in New York City. He also told Fox News he would be “open” to meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the summit.
Though Trump made it sound like he was at a critical crossroad in the war on Iran, he told Yingst the past few days were “no different from any other weekend.”
However, on Saturday, U.S. embassies across the Middle East issued security alerts warning of “potential for unforeseen escalation” after the Iran-allied Houthi rebels intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia.
Trump reportedly told Fox News he has been in “constant communication with the Houthis and that they’ve agreed not to fight the United States.”
