I love the warmer months but am not above admitting to the season’s pitfalls — humidity, thigh chafing and my least favorite, bugs. My ire is mainly reserved for mosquitoes, but houseflies and gnats are a close second and third, especially when they’re in my house. I do my best to keep bugs at bay with repellents like incense and candles, but some always find their way inside and terrorize me in my own home. I’m pleased to report that after an exhaustive search, I’ve found a handy, sub-$20 item that’s significantly reduced these pesky nuisances: the Zevo Flying Insect Trap.

These little traps use blue and UV lights and a removable sticky cartridge to attract and capture gnats, mosquitoes, flies and moths.
The Zevo plug-in has a low-profile silhouette that can be popped into any outlet in your home. They’re the most mess-free, low-lift method I’ve come across for bug trapping, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to keep bugs of all kinds out of their home.
The combination of affordability, ease of use, effectiveness and aesthetics makes it a must-have. It’s much smaller than a lot of other popular bug traps and zappers, which is what initially sold me on trying it out.
The trap can be used in any room, but I like to keep my Zevo light trap next to my balcony door to thwart the little creatures as quickly as possible. It was a gross shock to see just how many bugs had been lurking in my house, though equally thrilling to know they were being quickly neutralized.
I have been using it for almost a year now, and while the cartridge fills up faster during the warm summer months because the back door is open more often, it came in handy year-round. I moved it closer to our fruit bowl in the kitchen during the winter and never had to worry about fruit flies buzzing around.

“This little gadget is pure genius. I plugged it in and within a day, it started quietly collecting every flying pest that dared enter my kitchen. No smell, no mess, no gross zapping noises — just silent success. The design is sleek enough that guests do not even realize it’s a bug trap, and swapping out the cartridge is quick and clean. I honestly did not expect to be this impressed by something meant to catch flies, but Zevo turned pest control into a plug-in miracle. It is fly and mighty.” — David Irving
“If you are on the fence as to whether to buy this or not, time to jump. This thing is a dang miracle. I was so skeptical but was overrun with gnats and flies for almost a week. Vinegar everywhere, nothing worked. I plugged this on yesterday evening. By this morning, I’ve only seen maybe 4. 4! I had 400… I cannot say enough, but THANK YOU!” — Kathy B

Within the first few days, I noticed it catching fruit flies, gnats, and small flying insects that had been bothering us. It’s quiet, doesn’t have a strong odor like sprays, and the blue light is subtle enough not to be distracting. Promising review: “I’m so glad I found these. I was having a fruit fly problem, which as we all know, is very annoying. I couldn’t get them to go away with any weird soap and vinegar hacks so I thought I’d at least catch them in this sticky trap when they were flying around. It totally worked, and the best part is that I likely won’t have any fruit flies at all anymore, cause they can’t multiply if they die on the paper. Yay!” — Sofi

A fruit fly trap liquid
Made with plant-based ingredients that are non-toxic and safe for kitchens, Aunt Fannie’s Fly Punch is a powerful fruit fly attractant that lasts up to 30 days and prevents flies from multiplying. Just open the lid and place it in your most affected areas or fill an existing reusable trap with the solution.
Promising review: “This is the fourth year in a row that I have purchased this product. Needless to say, I am very happy with it. Around this time of year we usually get some gnats or fruit flies buzzing around the kitchen sink or more annoyingly, the computer monitor. When that happens, we open this product and the critters are all gone within 1-2 days. They are attracted to the scent this bottle emits once it is opened. They fly right into it and drown. You can see them floating around in it. Once they’re gone, this can be easily disposed of by just tossing it in the garbage. Goodbye gnats and fruit flies.” — 1GLENCo
