Guy Behind Trump At Latest Rally Goes Viral In The Strangest Way Possible

President Donald Trump on Wednesday delivered a long and rambling speech that was full of wild claims and strange verbal slip-ups, but he somehow managed to get upstaged by someone in the audience who never said a word.

During a speech in Marietta, Ga., Trump claimed to have “fought” Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) and won, then twice said Ossoff looked like “Pinky Herman.” He said “communists” were trying to “blow up Mount Rushmore,” alleged that “men in women’s sports came ravaging through our cities,” referred to the Strait of Hormuz as “Hormuz Street” and more.

As Trump spoke, a man in the audience behind him occasionally mimicked his hand gestures and mannerisms ― and the impression was uncanny:

There were slight differences in how each network’s cameras were positioned, so the man was visible in some, but not all, broadcasts of the speech. He was also picked up by still photographers at the event and can be seen mimicking Trump’s post-speech dance moves near the upper right of this image:

The moment was reminiscent of the “plaid shirt guy,” who went viral for his memorably unenthusiastic facial expression as he stood behind Trump at a 2018 rally in Montana. He was eventually removed and identified as Tyler Linfesty, then a high school senior, who later told CNN that those were his “actual, honest” reactions and he wasn’t trying to protest the president.

In this case, it’s not clear what the intentions of the person behind Trump were. Some think he was trolling the president. Others believe he was honoring him ― and he did, at times, cheer for Trump and even held up the signs given to rally attendees.

What was clear was that his impression was strong ― and hilarious:
