‘WTH?’: Trump’s Public Struggle To Recall A Basic Word Leaves People Very Confused

President Donald Trump on Monday seemed to struggle to find the right word for the moment ― and the phrase he settled on struck many as odd.

Trump was livid with Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host who is now U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, over her decision to drop criminal charges against former Olympic athlete David Hearn. Although Hearn had been accused of damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Pirro released a statement admitting that the damage was caused by a botched installation and not vandalism.

Trump threw a fit, saying Pirro “folded like an umbrella,” and insisted that he had evidence of vandalism. But he couldn’t quite explain that evidence.

“We have photographs, or tapes,” he said, making a circular gesture with his hands. After a pause, he pointed to the cameras recording him and added: “Like moving cameras, right?”

Trump presumably meant videos, which he claimed showed people slashing the pool’s line with “a box knife.”

No such evidence from Trump’s “moving cameras” has been released.

On X, the president’s critics were stunned by his inability to summon the right word:

Moving cameras? https://t.co/NJwoeGBEoW

Person, woman, man, moving camera, TV

Next he’s going to start calling movies “the talkies” (unless of course they’re silent movies) 🙄

Also, we all know if these “moving camera” tapes existed he’d have splashed them all over his Temu social media platform by now. https://t.co/nvyhfDSPOB

“Moving cameras,” like at the picture show. You know where you pay a nickel and then you see a newsreel and maybe a Flash Gordon serial and then a Humphrey Bogart picture. https://t.co/5v9k1HkoyB

Moving cameras? No one has called them that since before they were invented. https://t.co/aqkpGeQAd8

Ah, yes. The moving cameras. I remember we’d stroll down the boardwalk and put a coin in the ol’ Nickelodian to see those movin’ pictures. The Charleston was sweeping the nation and the flapper girls would give you a wink a peak of ankle. https://t.co/OLgmTNLDXg

Can we see those tapes or are they with the Epstein files? https://t.co/y2KbaQegyX

Where are these tapes? https://t.co/TBJyRLzf8l

We do not. No one has ever seen this footage because it doesn’t exist outside of his brain. We have video of one guy picking up a piece of floating debris. He has since been exonerated. https://t.co/6j7BTmnX5h
