CNN’s Erin Burnett on Monday highlighted a glaring contradiction in Donald Trump’s claims amid his renewed war with Iran.

As the U.S. resumed strikes on Iran after the collapse of the ceasefire, Burnett noted that the White House had told Congress the military was targeting “missile launch sites, air defenses, military maritime assets, military support infrastructure and command and control capabilities.”
“It’s quite an extensive list,” Burnett said, “and it does raise a really important question.”
“Because isn’t this what Trump has already said again and again and again was already accomplished by his 136-day war?” she asked. “After all, Trump has claimed all those things that I listed have been wiped out and eviscerated, destroyed by the U.S.”

Burnett then played a montage of Trump repeatedly claiming Iran’s military capabilities had been eviscerated and “totally wiped out.”
“Of course, that is not true,” Burnett commented afterward, pointing to intelligence assessments showing that “Iran still has about 70% of its pre-war missile stockpile and it has 70% of its launchers.”
